Niji Sushi Bar is a restaurant in the Sydney suburb of Kingsford. They have held a sushi eating competition every few months.

Though a wasabi ball or several have featured in various competitions, this won’t be classified as a “spicy challenge” currently, as it seems only a small part of the challenge.

History

Niji Sushi Bar opened on 7th June 2012, according to their Facebook page.

They later expanded to Double Bay, opening “Niji Restaurant and Bar” (website , Facebook ) in January 2014. However this store has not held any eating competitions, so far as I am aware.

Col the Conqueror’s  comments: These competitions look fun and delicious, and I would love to enter one sometime! The large plates of sushi are visually attractive, and attendance looks pretty good. Also to me it feels like a privilege to compete in anything Japanese related, due to Japan’s competitive eating pedigree :)
